At Lifya, we're done with greenwashing and we know you are too. The eco-friendly market is flooded with products claiming to be sustainable, but it can be difficult to know what's actually environmentally friendly and what's just greenwashed. That's why we've created a unique evaluation framework to make sure that our products meet our high standards for sustainability. Our framework is based on seven key principles that we use to assess the sustainability of each product:
Responsible Materials:
We prioritise products made from natural, biodegradable materials that have been sourced in an environmentally responsible manner. This means that the materials used in our products do not contribute to deforestation, habitat destruction, or other environmental issues.
Ethical Production:
We evaluate the production process of each product, ensuring that it is energy-efficient and minimises waste. We also ensure that all workers involved in the production process are treated fairly and paid a living wage, and that no forced or child labor is used.
Energy Efficiency:
We assess the energy required to produce and use each product, and prioritise products that are energy-efficient and have a low carbon footprint. We also encourage the use of renewable energy sources, such as wind, solar, and hydropower.
Durability:
At Lifya, we believe in buying better, not more. That's why we prioritise products that are designed and built to last, reducing the need for frequent replacements and reducing waste.
Circular Design:
Our products are designed with the end of their life in mind. We prioritise products that can be easily reused, repaired, or recycled, reducing waste and conserving resources.
Social Responsibility:
We evaluate our supply chain and sourcing practices, ensuring that all workers and communities involved are treated fairly and paid a living wage. We also consider the cultural and environmental impact of our products and their sourcing practices, ensuring that they are not harmful to local communities or ecosystems.
Transparency:
At Lifya, we value transparency in all aspects of our business. That's why we evaluate the transparency of our brands based on how much of the supply chain and production information we can access. Our brands are working diligently to ensure that they have a clear understanding of their entire supply chain. However, achieving 100% transparency in supply chains is a work in progress, especially for some of our more boutique brands.
We believe that by uniting sustainable brands, we can collectively demand more transparent production mechanisms. At Lifya, we are committed to promoting transparency and empowering our brands to be more sustainable, and our customers to make informed choices. That's why transparency is one of the heavier weighted metrics within our evaluation framework. We understand that we can't evaluate what we can't see, and we are working to ensure that our customers have access to the information they need to make sustainable choices.
